Yes, I am da PipFreek. As if you didn’t know already.
So my Aunt, who rocks, is teaching this nifty class on fealty. She was trying to decide whether to use the story of Merry tagging along for the big battle in Return of the King or the story of Pip trying to save Denethor and Faramir from the same volume as an example of disobeying one’s lord.
Needless to say, I said she should use Pip – after all, Pip rules, right? Also, it’s a better story to use as an example. Merry tags along because he’s pissed that Theoden wants to leave him behind; Pippin runs to get Gandalf because Denethor has gone crazy and is going to kill himself and his son.
We went over the story (with me typing quotes from the book) and my Aunt decided I was right and is going to use the Pip story. So yay me! And yay Pip.
