Only 40 hours until I have to go back to actually working. Damn. I was getting used to the whole ‘lay around reading, sleeping, watching TV and poking around online and call it ‘recuperating” routine.
Oh, well.
I’m doing well with NaNoWriMo, however, and spent a joyous afternoon watching “The Forsyte Saga,” a delightful miniseries about those wacky Victorians.
Sadly, episode two was missing – somehow I managed to tape an hour of a Liam Neeson film instead – and we nearly missed out on episode three when the VCR tried to eat the tape. Thankfully we fixed it… and were treated to a rather unpleasant sequence in which my favorite character raped his wife. Dammit. I was bummed. I loved Soames when he was being a posessive, materialistic bastard (and a cute, red-headed one at that) but adding rape to the mix just… made it icky.
Even if he did have a gorgeous scene after he realizes he’s really lost his wife and falls into a terrible depression. Damn that Damian Lewis! He’s too good at making Soames sympathetic.
What is it about magnificent bastards that makes me love them on the screen? Ah, well, we all know how I am about villains, so I suppose it’s no surprise. Oh, here’s a link to a great interview with Damian Lewis, who has some great insight into the character.
I’m rambling, in true NaNo fashion, so I’ll sign off.
