This week’s Monday Mission.
1. How do you respond to hateful mail and comments?
I usually ignore them, if they’re directed at me. I can take flames. They irk me, sure, and I don’t enjoy receiving them, but they don’t shatter me, and I learned a long time ago that what people like that are trying to get is a response… so I don’t give them one.
2. What sort of topics have you taken a stand on in your writings? Did it get the reaction you expected? What subjects have you avoided? Why?
Taken a stand against? Hm…well, I have ranted on blog privacy before. I was pleased to note that most of my readers agreed with me on the subject. I’ve also ranted about separation of church and state. I tend not to take really controversial stands here in my blog because I know that doing so won’t change people’s opinions. If I feel really strongly about something and want to write about it, I’ll write about it here, but I don’t feel a need to take a stand for its own sake. I don’t particularly avoid certain topics – I just write when I feel moved to do so.
3. What would you add to the list of “Reasons You Won’t Read a Blog?” What are some of the reasons that you stopped reading someone’s Blog? Do you tell them you’ve stopped reading? Wouldn’t you like to know why someone quit reading yours? Or do you care?
Hm… I think that list at Snarkybitch pretty much covers everything. I read blogs that interest/amuse/entertain/inform me. I rarely decide to quit reading a blog.. it’s more like I get busy and drift away. I wouldn’t mind knowing why someone quit reading my blog, but I don’t actually write my blog for other people, I write it for myself, so it doesn’t matter that much to me.
4. Do you like to tweak and tinker with your website and blog? Or would you rather have a simple solution so you can concentrate on other things?
Nope, I’m not a tinkerer anymore. I’m too busy (and lazy).
5. Would you take a ride into outer space if given the chance?
Hell yeah!
6. Are there any songs, that when you hear them, make you just want to get up and start dancing?
Yep! About 80% of Red Elvises songs, loads of Phenomenauts stuff, and plenty of one-offs.
7. Have you ever made a “Mix” CD or tape for someone special? What was on it? Did they like it? Are you sure? Has someone made a”mix” just for you? Did you like it? Which one comes to mind? What made it so
memorable? What songs were on it?
Yeah, I have. One of my friends and I like swapping mix tapes all the time. We put all kinds of random weirdness on them. I often try to top whatever wacky stuff she’s sent me with my own weird music.
BONUS: Where does my hope come from?
I dunno about yours, PromoGuy, but mine comes from the memory of good stuff that’s happened in the past. I think, “well, if is possible, surely is not impossible.” e.g., “well, if finding a great boyfriend is possible, surely finding the One, True Job is not impossible.”
