It’s almost November. How did that happen?
For them as don’t know, November is National Novel Writing Month (aka NaNoWriMo). Last year I crossed the finish line with pride (and of course with much blogging). This year I have a new goal. I don’t just want to write 50,000 words in the month of November. I want to write 50,000 good (or at least decent) words in the month of November.
I was optimistic about last year’s production… until I sat down and actually tried to finish the damn thing prior to editing it. The plot totally fell apart about 3/4 of the way in. Gah. That’s a shame, really, because I like the characters a lot. This year I’m trying a series of interlocking short stories, and if that works, maybe I’ll redo last year’s novel in that format. Somehow, although I like reading novels, I have trouble plotting the damn things.
Anyway. This year I’m at it again. Call me crazy if you like, but I really enjoy hanging out with everybody at the write-ins and the parties and everything. NaNo’ers are a great group of people – good writers and good partiers! ‘sides, I got to know the bf well enough to really fall hard for him courtesy of NaNo, so it has a fond place in my heart.
Wish me luck, folks! And think about joining us this year.
