This week’s Monday Mission.
When was the last time you said or were told the following, and more importantly, how did it feel to be you at that moment:
- “It’s not you, it’s me.”
I’ve been told variants of this a couple of times. It always sucks. I mean, of course it’s at least partly me, or it wouldn’t be necessary to say.
Never said this, that I can remember. Certainly never said it seriously while trying to let someone down gently. - “I love you, but I’m not in love with you.”
Haven’t been told this yet, thank heavens. Nor said it. - “You just don’t get it!”
I say variants of this semi-regularly to my folks. :) Can’t remember offhand a time it was said to me. - “Do I look fat…”
My friends and I will say this jokingly to each other (or variants of it). - “I hate you!”
I don’t think I’ve ever said this or had it said to me. I’d certainly remember being on the receiving end. - “If you really loved me…”
God, I hate that line. Especially when women in movies use it to demand absurd things. Never said it or had it said to me. - “Not tonight…”
Never said this or had it said about the obvious subject. I’ve said it in the context of, say, “Go to a movie? Not tonight, I have to work, but maybe tomorrow.”
