Big Fish

Y’know, movies like Big Fish make me simultaneously glad and frustrated.
I’m glad because it’s a great film.
I’m frustrated because it’s so damn tricky to review.

This is at once not at all a “typical” Tim Burton film. It’s not dark and weird and goth. But it has the magic and charm and dreamy reality that are Burton’s hallmarks and gives me great hope for the kind of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” he’s going to give us in another year or so.
It’s a great film, saturated with the warm golden light of nostalgia and hope, and I really loved it.
But how the hell am I supposed to explain why to my readers?!
Ah, well, I’ll figure it out somehow.
