Go look at this (found via BeerMary). A Halloween evangelism kit? Good grief.
Now, as a liberal first-amendment thumper I have no problem with people handing out Gospel tracts on Halloween, I just find it.. amusing. I’ve never really gotten the whole “Halloween is EVIL!” thing some fundies have going on.
Sure, it’s a rip off of an old Pagan holiday… but so is Christmas (if Jesus was born when the lambs still needed the sheperds out in the fields, he was born in SPRING, not winter. Can we say “solar rebirth festival,” kids? I knew you could.). So is Easter (Eggs? Rabbits? Can we say “fertility festival,” kids? I knew you could.).
I must admit, though, that the idea of evangelizing to kids does make me a little uncomfortable. It’s my considered opinion that kids are too young to be making decisions about important things like religion. I think kids should be raised in their parents’ religion and allowed to check other religions out when they’re teenagers. You wanna convert someone, at least wait until they’re 15 or 16, not 7 or 8. Sheesh.
