A mother tries to recover from the traumatic death of her father while struggling to build a relationship with her teenage son in this intense but ultimately unsatisfying psychological drama. “Marrow” borders on horror at times because its cinematography and soundtrack make us expect all sorts of horrible things — some of which come to pass and some of which don’t. The way it turns ordinary things like parent-teacher conferences and disagreements between a single mom and her kid into tense, frightening moments is impressive, as is the performance by lead actress Frances Hearn, but its lack of resolution left me disappointed.
